Broccoli puree

Broccoli Purée

• 1 medium potato (approximately 180g)

• 100g broccoli

• 30ml (2tbsp) baby’s usual milk*


• Saucepan

• Handheld blender or food processor




1. Wash, peel and dice the sweet potato or yam, carrot or parsnip.


2. In a pan of boiling water, cook the chosen vegetables for about 10-15 minutes or until soft. Drain.


3. Blend together the vegetables with the milk using a handheld blender or food processor. Do not add any salt.


4. Serve warm.


To add variety to the types of vegetables in your baby’s diet, you could replace the broccoli with extra fine green beans, spinach, kale, cauliflower or courgette.Cool any leftovers and transfer to ice cube trays and freeze to provide convenient portions for future use.

Good to know

Broccoli is a great source of vitamin C. If you find your baby takes a while to adjust to the strong flavour of broccoli, try mixing it with a sweet vegetable such as sweet potato.


*This can be expressed breast milk or your baby’s usual formula made up according to the instructions on pack.
