• 1 plantain (approximately 200g peeled) 
• 1 small onion (approximately 60g) 
• 15ml (1tbsp) rapeseed and olive oil 
• 250ml stock (made using an unsalted vegetable stock) 
• 150ml of baby’s usual milk*

*This can be expressed breast milk or follow-on formula made up according to the instructions on pack.


• Non-stick saucepan 
• Handheld blender or food processor


1. Peel and cut the plantain into rounds. Finely chop the onion.
2. In the saucepan, heat the oil and sauté the plantain and onion gently until golden, stirring occasionally. This will take approximately 2-3 minutes. Add the stock and bring to the boil.
3. Simmer for 10 minutes until the plantains are soft, then stir in the milk. Transfer to a food processor or use a handheld blender, then process the food to a thick soup consistency. Do not add any salt.
4. Serve warm. Always check the temperature before feeding it to your baby.


Cool any leftovers and transfer to ice cube trays. Freeze to provide convenient portions for future use.
