• 1 slice of wholemeal bread

• 1 medium egg

• 30ml (2tbsp) of baby’s usual milk *

• A little olive oil

*This can be expressed breast milk or your baby’s usual formula made up according to the instructions on pack.


• Frying pan


Milk, Wheat and Egg


1. Cut the slice of bread into four fingers.

2. Break the egg into a shallow bowl and beat with the milk.

3. Dip the bread in the mixture turning to coat both sides well.

4. Heat the oil in a pan and fry the bread fingers on both sides until brown.

5. Serve warm on a plate.


This baby finger food is not suitable for freezing. Why not add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the egg mixture to add a different flavour or add fruit toppings such as sliced banana?

Good to Know

Try to choose bread that is made with wholegrain as these contain all of the grain, which is high in fibre and contains essential B vitamins.
